The Edit page enables a user to edit whatever they wish in the Twinsuniverse. To access the edit page, all you need to do is click on the "edit" tab, which appears on top of each article.

Editing buttons

Format-bold-B.png Bold. Makes selected text bold. You can also do so manually by putting text between two pairs of 3 apostrophes. Example:

'''Twinsen''' → Twinsen

Format-italic-I.png Italic. Makes selected text italic. You can also do so manually by putting text between two pairs of 2 apostrophes. Example:

''Twinsen'' → Twinsen

Note: To make a text both bold and italic, use pairs of 5 apostrophes (or use both buttons):

'''''Twinsen''''' → Twinsen

Insert-xlink.png External link. Creates a link to another site. For more information, see Help:External links.

Insert-ilink.png Internal link. Creates a link to an article within the Twinsuniverse. For more information, see Twinsuniverse links.

Insert-file.png Embedded file. Linking to a (media) file (e.g. sound file) on the Twinsuniverse.

Insert-reference.png Reference. Create a reference link to and at the bottom of the page.

Insert-signature.png Signature and timestamp. Will insert your signature into the page, as well as the time you saved the page. This should only be used at discussion pages.

Insert-link.png Link. Creates a link to an article within the Twinsuniverse or to another site. This button offers a convenient dialog that allows you to choose what kind of link you want, and that checks whether the page exists if it is internal.

Insert-reference.png Reference. Create a reference link to and at the bottom of the page (but does this using a dialog).

Lastly, the editor offers three extra toolbars, that can be folded out using the Advanced, Special characters and Help links. The editor will remember whichever toolbar you last had open. Clicking Advanced open, reveals the additional sets of buttons below.

Heading. This dropdown offers four levels of headlines. Heading 1 is not available, because it is reserved for the title of the page. See Help:Headlines for further information.

Format section

Format-ulist.png Bulleted list. Creates a bulleted list from all the selected lines, or adds one list item if nothing is selected.

  • Two list items

Format-olist.png Numbered list. Creates a numbered list from all the selected lines, or adds one list item if nothing is selected.

Insert-nowiki.png No wiki formatting. Used for showing the wiki code, without it turning into a formatted text. Example:

<nowiki>'''[[Twinsen]]'''</nowiki> → '''[[Twinsen]]'''

Insert-newline.png New line. Inserts a new line.

Format-big.png Big. Increases the size of the selected text by one step. This works multiple times on the same text.

Search-replace.png Search and replace. Opens a dialog for searching within the current text of the editor, and for replacing the search strings with something else.

Unsupported Buttons

File:Button hr.png Horizontal line. Adds a horizontal line, similar to a <hr> HTML code. This might interfere with the visual style of headers though, and should thus generally be avoided.

File:Button image.png Embedded image. Adds an image to the article. For additional information, see Help:Images.

File:Button math.png Mathematical formula. Adding a mathematical formula (shouldn't be common here).

Summarry

You can enter a short description of a few words in here of what you just changed. For example, "added external link", "fixed typos", "expansion of the Description section", etc. This summarry will appear on the History of the article, and will be helpful for those wishing to see the differences made in the article.

Minor edit

If you made only a small change to the article, tick this box. When people look at the History of articles, they will be able to see which edits are minor (marked with an m), and which are more significant. The Recent changes page shows all changes, and offers the ability to hide these minor edits.

Watching a page

If you tick this box, this page will be added to your Watch list. This list shows all the recent changes in the pages you have chosen to watch. You may also set in your preferences to automatically watch any page you have edited (i.e. to automatically tick this box). This checkbox is also available when creating a new page.

Save page

Saves the page, and goes back to read mode with your changes in effect.

Show preview

Does not save your changes but shows a preview of the page with your changes in effect, above the editor. It is very recommended that you use this button before saving, to see if everything works out as you intended and to check if you used the wiki codes correctly. You can also use your preferences to automatically turn the preview on upon entering edit mode.

Cancel

Will discard any changes and take you back to the article in read mode.
