The car part is a component that's required in order to fix Twinsen's car.
At the beginning of Little Big Adventure 2, Twinsen's and Zoé's car does not work. Zoé asked Jerome Baldino to get them the part missing in order to fix the car.
Twinsen can ask Baldino for the missing part as soon as he arrives on Desert Island, but the first time he actually needs the car is for a test at the School of Magic. After Baldino gives the part to Twinsen, he can give it to Zoe for her to fix the car. She then brings it to Desert Island, and Twinsen is able to use the car in order to complete the Garden Balsam test.
